βοΈSPRING SNOW in 4 provinces across SOUTH AFRICA! βοΈ
***Watch till end π€£π€£π€£
The Vox Weather Girls embarked on an unforgettable adventure on September 11th, chasing spring snow amidst the breathtaking Matroosberg Mountain Range in the Western Cape.
ποΈβ€οΈ Mother Nature surprised us with her whimsical touch, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderlandπΈπ¨οΈ Our cameras were ready, and we captured every enchanting moment for you to enjoy! The tranquil beauty of the snow-covered peaks was simply mesmerizing.
The crunch of fresh snow underfoot and the crisp mountain air filled our senses, making it an adventure of a lifetime. βοΈβ€οΈ WHY IS IT SNOWING IN SPRING? IS THE WEATHER GOING CRAZY? In South Africa, snowfall over the mountainsβ during Spring is not that uncommon and happens almost every year. September marks the transition from winter to spring in the Southern Hemisphere, and temperatures in many parts of the country are starting to rise.
BUT GROUND SNOWFALL is more likely to occur in the winter months, from June to August, when temperatures are colder. The amount of snowfall can vary from year to year, and it’s generally less frequent and less substantial in September compared to the winter months. YOU SAYING SNOW ONLY STARTS ON THE 23RD OF SEPTEMBER?? Did you know thereβs difference between Meteorological and Astronomical Seasons? Meteorological Spring Day starts on the 1st of September, but Astronomical Spring Day only takes place during the Spring Solstice on the 23rd of September.
Meteorological seasons are based on the annual temperature cycle while astronomical seasons are based on the position of Earth in relation to the sun. So basically thereβs no one answer to when spring starts π We’d love to hear your thoughts on this unique spring snow chase, so drop your comments below and share your own snowy escapades!
